VIDEO: An Interview with… Us?!

Posted In: Interviews, Motivational, RV Lifestyle, Video

An RV is a product. Camping is an activity. But RV camping? It’s a lifestyle.

For us, it’s an ongoing process. There’s always something new to learn.

We are avid travelers. From the outset, we approached our Airstream purchase as a fun alternative means of traveling the United States. We’d done the roadtrip before. We’d gone camping before. Our Airstream takes both to the next level, and then some.

More than most methods of travel, RV camping entails a massive learning curve. There’s just a lot to digest – and later to dump at the dump station (terrible joke, sorry folks!).

In the beginning, we were just happy to have our rig hold together as we moved from point A to point B. If we could park it without suffering major structural damage, we were pleased.

Over time we’ve learned the nuances, the thousand tiny details that make life go a little more smoothly. For example, make certain that both ends of the sewer hose are connected before opening the drain valve. (Yet another dump station reference – sorry folks!)

RV camping is also a steady exercise in improvement, since there’s always a slightly better way of doing things. Often the improvement is through means of elimination, and replacing the large and complex with something smaller and simpler. This is a fascinating contrast to the usual ‘bigger is better’ mentality that we all sometimes pursue in our brick-and-mortar homes.

Sometimes I say that RV camping is an exercise in problem solving, because every day tosses you a new problem. This is one of those jokes that also happens to be true. If you are the type of person who loses all composure when something goes wrong, you probably shouldn’t try hauling your own portable shelter around North America.

We’ve had wonderful experiences with our Airstream, and Long Long Honeymoon has proven to be an satisfying creative outlet. It has been gratifying to share our experiences and knowledge with others through this website. It’s always a treat to meet someone in a campground who has visited LLH or viewed our videos on YouTube. Thanks for joining us on this ride.
