Airstream has released a special concept trailer in Europe. The 22-foot trailer has been designed in partnership with Mini. It can be towed by a Mini Cooper S.
Apparently this RV has been created with the surfer set in mind. It’s got a waterproof interior, and the side folds down (!) to allow easy access. It also appears to have fully integrated surfboard storage.
The interior was decked out by furniture producers Republic of Fritz Hansen. It’s a streamlined affair (a couple of chairs and a table) and finished with green and black accents.
Of course, this is the kind of concept vehicle that will undoubtedly remain a concept. Its purpose is to turn heads and start conversations. On these points, at least, it has succeeded! It does drive home the message that Airstreams are both stylish and easy to tow.
I really like Mini Coopers. They’re small and sporty. I’ve often thought that Mini Coopers would make ideal “toad” vehicles for folks with motorhomes.
But using a Mini Cooper as your tow vehicle? That’s creative.

Job duties include sunbathing, swimming, and occasionally fishing leaves out of the pool. It [...]
Happy New Year to everyone! I trust everyone had a pleasant time sending 2008 off to the history books. When I think back to the past year, I’m reminded of the video we shot while camping on the Gulf of Mexico. We actually shot this video right around New Year’s Eve 2007, so it’s an [...]
One of the most delightful aspects of RV ownership has been discovering the variety of environments in which we can camp. We’ve camped in friends’ driveways and in Wal-Mart parking lots. We’ve camped in national, state, and city parks. We’ve camped in public and private campgrounds. We’ve camped in the mountains, we’ve camped alongside majestic [...]
Having traveled some 40,000 miles around the continental United States, I can draw a few conclusions about regional insect behavior. Overall, our Airstream cabin has remained blessedly free of multiple legged creatures. Sure, the occasional bloodthirsty mosquito manages to invade our inner sanctum. But mosquitoes are easy to spot against the white lining and wallpaper [...]
