“How’s that Champion generator workin’ out for ya?”
We are currently traveling with the Champion 3100W unit with remote electric start; but we also own the DUAL FUEL 3400W unit. Overall we have been very impressed with the value proposition offered by Champion inverter generators. They deliver an impressive set of features at a very reasonable cost.
The Champion DUAL FUEL model (with the catchy name of #100263) is one of the most popular products in our Amazon Store. What makes it special is the dual-fuel function that gives you the option to run on either LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) or Propane. This special function is triggered by a fuel selector switch that rotates between the 2 options. The performance of this model is outstanding: 3060 starting watts and 2790 running watts, and it will run 14.5 hours straight (at 25% load when using 20-pound propane)! Champion’s Inverter Technology includes a smart Economy Mode, which reduces the electrical load, providing lesser noise in operation, extended engine life, and better fuel economy. It also has light indicators for low oil supply, overload, and normal load which is very useful in checking the condition of the generator.
Another thing to like in this product is an RV-ready 30A outlet, which most RV generators in the market sadly don’t offer. Although we absolutely LOVE the remote electric start on our 3100W unit (it’s brilliant on cold mornings!), many people prefer the DUAL FUEL because propane will not gum up the carburetor. With the 3100W gasser, you must remain vigilant about the downside risks of ethanol. We always burn out all of the gas if the unit is going into storage for any length of time. But so far, our experience is that the unit just works. We’ve been using it on a daily basis and have had no serious issues. While we wish it was a little more quiet, we recently had ours side-by-side with a couple of Honda 2000W units and they sounded about the same.
