We’ve added a new “Charity” button to the navigation bar on our website.
The charity in question is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
There are a lot of great charities in the world. We have a personal connection to this one because Kristy once worked for it, full time. In fact, that’s where she was working when we got engaged. That’s the job she left when we hitched up our Airstream and departed on The Long Long Honeymoon. So I owe ’em one, right? 🙂
I could wax poetic about the good works of the LLS. Suffice to say that they conduct several fine fundraising programs and events. They usually work on a shoestring budget, and they do an outstanding job delivering money to patients in need.
We discuss and show a couple of LLS programs in our video. The school assembly was part of the Pennies for Patients program. You’ll also see footage from a Light the Night walk.
There are some other compelling LLS fund raising programs that we don’t address in the video. These include Team in Training, an extremely popular sports training program which pairs participants with coaches and trainers who offer fitness expertise. Via Team in Training, participants are prepped for marathons, half marathons, triathlons, 100-mile century bike rides, and hiking adventures. Yes, they will kick your butt into shape, and all for a good cause.
For the full scoop on LLS events and programs, be sure to check out the website at LLS.org.
In the future we plan to ramp up our participation with the LLS. (If my notoriously weak knees agree, we may tackle a Team in Training adventure.) But we’re happy to get the ball rolling today.
