A dealer in California is unveiling what it dubs the “extreme buy of a lifetime:” new RVs at half the original MSRP.
The promotion will offer the bargains on RVs from Winnebago, Damon, Pilgrim, Teton, Thor, and Gulf Stream. The sale will be limited to new 2006 and 2007 models at 50 percent off MSRP, and 40 percent off 2008 models.
Here’s a link to the press release: NEW RVs AT HALF PRICE
As an example of the savings, a 2008 Class A Winnebago Tour 40-foot diesel pusher motorhome with a 400 hp Cummins engine, originally priced at $268,697 will be sold for a paltry $161,218. (Just kidding about the “paltry” part.)
This promotion bears out what I’ve suspected: RV dealers have plenty of old inventory on their lots, and they are cutting unprecedented deals just to get ’em moving.
The dealership sale includes rigs by Teton Homes. These spacious fifth wheels are intriguing. Teton Homes built beautiful top quality fifth wheels, but unfortunately went out of business during the economic downturn of 2008. One suspects that those units are sold without warranty, but I’m not certain.
Would I buy a 2006 or 2007 model RV at half price? Sure. That’s a substantial savings, and I’d be getting a new (if slightly aged) rig. It sounds like an attractive deal to me. (But I am famously frugal.)
