We’ve had a lot of “adventurous” experiences with electric RV jacks. You know the old saying: when something goes wrong, the “adventure” begins! Maybe we have just had a run of bad luck, but our electric jacks have been a frequent lowlight of our RV travels. We’ve been through four. Our first unit was absolutely horrid in terms of design and operation; equipped with nylon internal gears, it was easily damaged, yet difficult to operate manually. Our second electric jack lasted merely one week before dying. We had a mostly positive experience with our third jack (lasting 6 years, it earned the nickname “Methuselah”) but its replacement lasted less than 2 years. Once we saw an opportunity to switch to hydraulic with @AirstreamNutsandBolts, we jumped on it. This is one of the most interesting upgrades we’ve made to our trailer in a long time. Hopefully it will last!
